Don't assume that because I'm a clinical hypnotherapist working with anxiety, stress and depression, that my life is always straightforward. Life always contains ups and downs, and if we are lucky, a plateau in between. So we need to take care of ourselves, and the weekend are a great time to do that, away from work and other commitments. Here's what a typical weekend looks like for me.
I normally tick my 'need to be social' box at least once. This will be a meet up with friends, catching up on each others' lives and enjoying a drink or good food. We all need social interaction, and good friendships can make us feel grounded and in touch with the world.
Exercise and fresh air are also important. For me, this might be a walk into town or around our Riverside Park.
Peace is no less important. I like start my day with a coffee somewhere, with my book and watching the world go by. I give my brain a chance to start the day gently, prompted by a cappuccino. There might also be an almond croissant as a weekend treat. We need to feel and appreciate the good things in our lives.
The fourth element is a little extra sleep, my alarm goes off an hour later on saturday and sunday. It is not unheard of for me to also take a cheeky afternoon nap. I always have an alarm because I like the structure to my day.
Simple things, really, that don't take a lot of time or money. And if things are a little tougher than normal, I'll increase these elements.
