Having established that perimenopause often occurs in our 40s, and that menopause is around age 51 or 52, I do have to point out that for most, it's NOT all over by age 53. Hormonal changes continue and so do the symptoms.


And our 40s, 50s 6Os can be disruptive and full of change in other ways. Teenagers in the house, children off to Uni, ageing parents, grandchildren, disillusionment with work, and sometimes a loss of identity. It can be a lot.


Men can also experience symptoms and disruption, and this is known (by some) as male menopause. The NHS say that this title is misleading, but of course the symptoms and experience are no less valid.



And, a reminder, some women have an 'early' or 'premature' menopause, and the NHS has some information on this.



Your GP can help if these symptoms are overwhelming, but so can hypnotherapy......
