However, while the kids, our job or our partner may be driving us mad, it's often about our capacity to cope with the demands that life is placing upon us.. Many little irritations can accumulate to the point where tears or anger come to the surface at the slightest provocation. Or maybe we just haven't got over a big life event. And it's this overwhelm that causes us problems,

Here are some helpful tips for coping with stress, courtesy of the NHS

As a hypnotherapist, what would my priorities be?

  • Optimise your sleep, so that you wake up refreshed and ready to start the day with a clean slate. If you are still unhappy about thoughts and events from yesterday, you will very quickly feel stressed again today.

  • Help you to identify small steps that improve the quality of life. Is there something you could drop to make life a little easier? Could organise your day differently? Could you find 5 mins to do something for yourself?

  • Encourage positive thinking. Perhaps you have had a busy day, but now you can enjoy your favourite dinner or a glass of wine. While you were stuck in traffic, did you hear your favourite song on the radio?

Did your child demand your attention as soon as you stepped through the door, but did they say something that made you proud?
