So, as a clinical hypnotherapist, there are 2 key elements that I will focus on. First, we work to optimise your sleep, and this where the 'hypno' part of the hypnotherapy comes in. It's about encouraging a trance-like state and some people are a little apprehensive about this, But actually, it's very normal.
Perhaps as a driver, you reach your destination and realise that you don't really remember the whole trip. Maybe you are a runner, and don't recall passing a point on the route, or perhaps you get to the end of a tv programme and realise you have missed a plot twist.
We all experience these thing and enter a trance-like state regularly. I use an audio file to encourage this trance-like state and you will listen to this each night before sleep. Over time, this improves the quality of your sleep and ensures you get as much REM sleep as possible.
Alongside this, I also work to reduce negative thinking so that your Stress Bucket isn't constantly refilling. When we are worried, stressed, anxious, tired or depressed, it becomes a vicious circle. So encouraging positive thinking is really about rebalancing our view of the world. I will ask you to start looking for positives in your daily life. This might be a really small thing, noticing a flower, or bumping into a friend. When we are in a negative frame of mind these are easily overlooked, so we need to bring them to the forefront of our mind. In our sessions together, we will talk about small steps that you can take to improve your life.
Improving your sleep and encouraging more positive thoughts will cause your Stress Bucket to empty, so that when you wake up, you are ready to face the day. With an empty Stress Bucket you have the capacity to cope with the ups and downs of life. After a good night's sleep, we are ready to take on the world.
